An application node is exactly like a voice response node, in that it must have WebSphere Voice Response Java and VoiceXML Environment installed on it, but it does not need to have a Blueworx Voice Response system installed on the same host. The application node, and its application groups and applications, are defined in the same configuration database as the voice response node.
An application node can be on the same host as the voice response node or it can be on a different host. There can be only one voice response node within a host, but there can be multiple application nodes.
Figure 1 shows an application node and a voice response node on separate hosts, with the system management console on the same host as the voice response node.
The following figure shows the configuration database being used by all nodes.
