The batch voice import utilities use a custom server called BVI. Before
using any of the utilities, you have to do the following:
- From the Welcome window, click on Applications —>
Custom Servers.
- Find the BVI custom server: Select the custom server
named BVI and then click Server —> Open.
The Custom Server
(BVI) Window appears.
- Make sure that the custom server is installed and built by clicking Operations —> Custom Server Manager from the Blueworx Voice Response Welcome
Window.
- Make sure that BVI shows in the Custom Server Manager window, and that
it is installed but NOT started (Run Status should be NONE).
If BVI does not show in the Custom Server Manager window, then it is not installed
correctly and you should reinstall it. See Getting started with Batch Voice Import.
- Open the BVI import window: Click BVI Custom
Server window —>Utilities —> Import.
The BVI Custom
Server Import Window appears.
Note: Use the import window to
ensure that the environment is correct, and that functions are executed from
the correct directory.
Run BVI utilities
You can now type any of the batch voice import utility names on the command
line and pressing Enter. Normally, you will follow this sequence:
- If your input is on audio recording media (DAT or CD), or if you are using
the microphone, use the bvi_rec utility to copy the input to a
flat AIX file. Otherwise, if using file transfer (LAN, diskette, computer
tape), make sure the input is on your hard disk.
- Use the bvi_seg utility to find the start and end positions
of each voice segment and create an index file.
- Use the bvi_desc utility to add all other information such
as segment numbers, descriptions, and so on.
- At this stage, it is possible to merge description information extracted
from an existing voice segment database using bvi_list.
- Use the bvi_play utility to listen to the segments and ensure
that all accompanying information is correct.
- Use the bvi_imp import segments into the Blueworx Voice Response voice segment
database.
