In addition to buffers, Blueworx Voice Response requires processing power (or CPU time) to handle telephone calls. Because CPU time is such a critical resource, the system includes a built-in monitor to help control CPU usage.
When usage rates start climbing to unacceptable levels, the CPU monitor sends a warning message to the System Monitor and changes the color of the CPU indicator light from green to yellow. You can then intervene and reduce the processing load by quiescing telephone channels. Use the procedure in Quiescing telephone channels to quiesce channels.
When fewer telephone channels are active, fewer callers can reach Blueworx Voice Response. If you find that the monitor is intervening too often, you may want to use the procedure in Controlling CPU monitor operation to reset the values of the parameters that control the monitor.
