To help you get started with the activities involved in managing and monitoring
one or more Blueworx Voice Response systems, this section includes the following sections:
Logging on to Blueworx Voice Response Once Blueworx Voice Response is installed, you need to start it and log on to perform the tasks described in this information. This section assumes that you are using a terminal or workstation running in an X-Windows environment. If you do not have a graphical display, see The ASCII console.
The ASCII console If you don't have a graphical display, you can still perform many of the tasks using the ASCII console. This is a text-only front end for the Blueworx Voice Response software. Because it does not depend on graphics, you can start it from any terminal that AIX supports. For example this could be a terminal connected through the RS-232 (serial) interface either directly or via a modem link.
Monitoring system resources When people call a voice response service, they want immediate attention. That means the system should answer the telephone quickly and respond immediately to each caller's requests. With the System Monitor window, you can watch the use of system resources and adjust those that affect how quickly the system responds.
Managing Blueworx Voice Response data The two critical Blueworx Voice Response resources are data and disk space. Blueworx Voice Response needs up-to-date, correct data to operate. Blueworx Voice Response also needs disk space to store the data and to use as work space. The hard disk in the Power System is therefore extremely important. If the disk is damaged or is nearly full, the system cannot operate correctly.
DT_shutdown command How to use the DT_shutdown command to shut down Blueworx Voice Response immediately.
Blueworx Voice Response utilities Blueworx Voice Response provides commands and utilities that you can use to work with Blueworx Voice Response and the Blueworx Voice Response database. These are listed here.
