Using SNMP to manage Blueworx Voice Response

A network management application that complies with the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) provides you with the means to manage Blueworx Voice Response remotely. You can manage a Blueworx Voice Response system from multiple remote systems; you can manage multiple Blueworx Voice Response systems from a central point; and you can integrate Blueworx Voice Response system management with the management of other systems in your network.

Using SNMP, the following information is available to a network management application:

• Current Blueworx Voice Response resource information such as CPU and file system usage
• Current operating status of Blueworx Voice Response packs, channels, custom servers, and 3270 servers
• SNMP traps: messages sent to the network management application when Blueworx Voice Response alarms occur

With such information, the network management application can:

• Monitor resource usage, both actively, by enquiring on current information, and passively, by receiving notification of alarms
• Actively control Blueworx Voice Response operations, by setting the status of Blueworx Voice Response components.

You may already have a network management application, or you may write your own. To integrate Blueworx Voice Response data into the application, you need the information in MIB content.
