How to design a system using the signaling interface

This section describes a number of applications for the Blueworx Voice Response signaling interface. This section shows you how to use the signaling interface and custom programming to connect a Blueworx Voice Response system to the network.

The Blueworx Voice Response signaling interface is an open interface that provides specialized C language subroutines with which you can implement a signaling process. You implement the signaling process as a custom server.

The signaling interface can be used to support signaling protocols not otherwise supported by Blueworx Voice Response:

• Exchange data link protocols, which are sometimes used to send call information from the switch to the voice application. See Exchange data link.
• Common channel signaling protocols, such as SS7 or ISDN, or specialized intelligent network (IN) protocols. See Common channel signaling.
