Developing a signaling process

Some signaling processes are supplied with Blueworx Voice Response. These signaling processes are started automatically by the Blueworx Voice Response system manager.

If none of the supplied signaling processes support the signaling protocol you want to use, you can write your own, as a Blueworx Voice Response custom server. The custom server manager controls installation, configuration, and process control, enabling you, for example, to have the signaling process automatically started when Blueworx Voice Response starts.

Skills required

If you are planning to develop your own signaling process, here is a list of the skills required:

C programming under AIX.
Development of Blueworx Voice Response state tables. You will use state tables to test your signaling process. If you are familiar with developing state tables, and with the telephony actions available within state tables, you will find it easier to understand the signaling interface.
Development of Blueworx Voice Response custom servers.
Previous experience implementing a network or telephony protocol.
Detailed knowledge of the telephony protocol you are planning to implement. For example if you want to develop a Signaling System Number 7 Telephone User Part (TUP), you must be familiar with the ITU-T (formerly CCITT) recommendations that define the TUP messages and protocol.
