Fax-tone detection

The tones generated by fax machines can be detected during a voice application.

If fax-tone detection is activated and tones are detected, they will stop the following actions:

• PlayAudioName
• PlayPrompt (when Force Play is not selected)
• PlayUserGreeting
• PlayVoiceFromHost (when Force Play is not selected)
• PlayVoiceMessage
• PlayVoiceSegment

To set fax-tone detection on, use the System : Fax detection system variable (SV227). The value of SV227 must be 1 to detect inbound fax tones, 2 to detect outbound fax tones, or 3 to detect both.

No distinction is made between the different tones generated by fax machines. Merely the occurrence of a tone is recognized. When a tone is detected during one of the actions listed, the action terminates with a Success result and the System : Action additional information system variable (SV180) indicates that a fax tone was detected during the action.
