Installing DB2 for the first time

Use this procedure when you are installing Blueworx Voice Response for the first time

Use this procedure to install DB2 for use with Blueworx Voice Response. You must install DB2 if you are installing Blueworx Voice Response for the first time on new hardware or LPAR.

If a problem occurs during installation, use the information and instructions in the AIX documentation. Informational and warning messages displayed by Blueworx Voice Response are explained in the Blueworx Voice Response for AIX: Problem Determination information.

  1. Log on to AIX as root, if you are not logged on already.

    Do not log in as sudo root.

  2. Navigate to the DB2 installation directory: Type the following command and press Enter:
     cd server
  3. Check DB2 prerequisites: Type the following command and press Enter:
     ./db2prereqcheck -v 10.5.0.3

    Ensure that filesystem space requirements are matched. Use smitty chfs to increase filesystem sizes as required.

    Ignore “DBT3589W The db2prereqcheck utility failed to validate that the IOCP is enabled on the following host machine:”

  4. Install DB2: Type the following command and press Enter:
     ./db2setup -r bvr7_db2.rsp

    Using the bvr7_db2.rsp DB2 response file supplied by Blueworx Support

  5. Validate the installation: Type the following command and press Enter:
     /opt/IBM/db2/V10.5/bin/db2val
