It is not necessary to manually convert 8 kHz 16-bit PCM data to your default (A-law or μ-law) when saving with the Voice Segment window. This is done automatically when you save a segment as either uncompressed or compressed. Note that converting from 16-bit PCM to 8-bit A-law or μ-law and back will degrade voice quality, as will compressing and uncompressing voice data. To save voice data for future use, always save it in 16-bit mode to an AIX file using the voice segment editor Export function. Don’t just save it in the Blueworx Voice Response voice segment database.
