Digital trunk adapters

Blueworx Voice Response includes two types of digital trunk adapter to process the signals from each T1 or E1 trunk that connects the system to the telephone network. If your system is connected to multiple trunks, it may include up to four Digital Trunk Telephony Adapters (DTTAs) or four Digital Trunk No Adapters (DTNAs).

Each DTTA adapter is installed in an expansion slot in the pSeries computer and attached to the trunk. Each DTNA is a software simulation of a DTEA adapter.

To activate a trunk, a DTTA adapter must be present and physically attached to the pSeries computer, the telephony environment must be defined, and at least one channel must be configured for that trunk. To activate the DTNA there is nothing physical to attach, but the telephony environment must be defined, and at least one channel must be configured for that trunk. In each case, you must activate the trunk before you set any of the channels to In Service.
