Changing the primary D-channel in an NFAS group

If you have configured non-facility associated signaling on your ISDN trunks, you might have set up a backup D-channel as well as a primary D-channel. If the primary D-channel goes out of service, the backup automatically takes over the transport of signaling traffic. You can use the channel operating status window to manually disable the primary D-channel and force the backup D-channel to take over.

  1. At the Welcome window, select Operations —> System Monitor
  2. Click one of the active push buttons under Channels in the System Monitor window.
The system displays the channel operating status window:

Screen capture of the Channels window

The active signaling channel appears in blue and the standby signaling channel appears in yellow.
  3. Click on the active signaling channel for your NFAS group.

The system displays the channel operating status window.

  4. Select Disable.

The channel goes out of service (Os) and the backup D-channel automatically changes from standby (St) to signaling active (Sg).

If you subsequently re-enable the primary D-channel, it will come back into service in standby mode.
