Before you stop Blueworx Voice Response

There are two menu options that shut down the system: Immediate Shutdown and Quiesce Shutdown. Immediate shutdown stops everything as quickly as possible. If there are any telephone calls in progress, immediate shutdown terminates them instantly. Quiesce shutdown stops everything more slowly. All telephone calls in progress are allowed to complete before the system stops.

You can also shut down Blueworx Voice Response and all the long-running daemons such as dtsnmpd and dtalarmd, using the DT_shutdown command described in DT_shutdown command.

The wvrstop command (equivalent to a quiesce shutdown) can also be used to shut down the system.

Always shut down Blueworx Voice Response using either Immediate or Quiesce Shutdown, DT_shutdown or wvrstop. If you attempt to stop the system any other way, processing may not terminate correctly and the system may not be able to start again.

If you are installing new digital trunk adapters, change the initial operating status of affected packs to Defined before you shut down Blueworx Voice Response. Otherwise, the system may not restart correctly (to do this, click Configuration —> Pack Configuration —> Change —> Operating Status). Packs and channels provides more information about trunk status.

When you are using a single system image and you shut down Blueworx Voice Response on the server node when some of the clients are running, some housekeeping functions are affected, so you shouldn't shut down the server for extended periods of time.

Note: When you restart AIX or DB2® on the server in a single system image, applications running on clients might fail and call information might be lost.
