How much disk space?

The amount of disk space you need depends on a number of factors, including:

The minimum pSeries computer configuration with which Blueworx Voice Response operates is described in Minimum requirements. The Blueworx Voice Response software, including AIX and AIXwindows, occupies about 4 GB of internal disk storage.

Generally, the amount of paging space you need on the hard disk is double the amount of system RAM.

Blueworx Voice Response requires space to store maintenance and administration files, error files, and statistics. At midnight and each time the system is restarted, the old files are saved and new files are created. One set of files can use up to 1.5 MB of disk space.

You also need disk space to store voice application files (state tables, voice segments, and messages). Allow extra disk space so that you can import and export application files. Importing and exporting allow you to back up individual applications and move them from one pSeries computer to another.

Additional national languages require additional disk space.

In addition to application files, the pSeries computer can also store the business information that is available to callers through voice applications. If you plan to store business information on the pSeries computer, ensure that you order enough disk space.

Voice storage

Stored voice includes voice segments that are used in prompts and voice messages. The capacity requirements are determined by whether voice compression is used. Voice segments can be recorded compressed or uncompressed. (Voice messages are always compressed.) Refer to Table 1 and Table 2 and Table 3 to determine the storage needed.
