State table applications
A state table is a program that specifies the basic logic of the interaction that takes place with callers. A state table can invoke other state tables, and uses prompts and voice segments to communicate with the caller. A voice segment is an audio recording, usually of spoken words. A prompt is a small program that specifies the logic of the voice output that callers hear, allowing you to combine voice segments efficiently, rather than having to record every utterance separately.This section describes how state table applications work, how you create them, and when you should consider state tables rather than other programming models.

Planning and designing voice applications
The creation of a logic flowchart should be part of the first phase of application design. Putting effort into the initial detailed planning and design makes application development using the Blueworx Voice Response user interface easy. It cannot be stressed too strongly, however, that you need both a good understanding of the business requirements of the application and a logical and methodical way of working with the voice application components.

Creating the voice output for applications
You can store the voice output (what the caller hears from applications) either as prerecorded voice segments or as text, from which speech can be synthesized dynamically. A voice segment consists of the spoken words (for example, “hello” or “good morning”) or sounds (for example, music) available to Blueworx Voice Response voice applications. A segment can be a single word, a sound, a phrase, one or more sentences, or a combination of words and sounds. A set of voice segments and voice logic modules are provided as part of Blueworx Voice Response—these include all the voice segments needed by the system prompts to produce numbers, letters, days of the week and other common sounds. You can either use the voice segments as supplied, or you can re-record them using a voice of your choosing to match that used in the applications. In the latter case, you can still use the supplied logic modules.

The components of Blueworx Voice Response provide capabilities such as outbound calling and other advanced CTI functions, VoiceXML or Java voice dialogs. Custom servers can be used for extending Blueworx Voice Response capabilities.
