Using the fax sample application

The fax sample application implements a simple fax filing cabinet.

There are three options:

  1. Call the fax sample application from a fax machine and press Start after the Welcome prompt. The fax sample application will use Brooktrout fax to receive the fax and store it in the incoming fax directory as a TIFF file.
  2. Call the fax sample application and select the inbound processing option. The application tells you how many incoming faxes are waiting to be processed, and gives you the opportunity to process these faxes in the order in which they were received. For each fax, the application will tell you the date, time, the channel on which it was received, and the size of the fax in bytes. You then have the option to delete, skip or save each incoming fax in the fax database. If you choose to save the fax, you will be asked for a number to identify the fax in the database. This number can be between 1 and 1000. In addition, you will be prompted to record a voice description to be stored in the FaxSampleDescr voice directory with the same number as that of the fax.
Note: Only incoming faxes can be deleted. Once you save a fax into the database, the application does not enable you to change or delete it.
  3. Call the fax sample application and select the outbound processing option. The application prompts you for the telephone number of the remote fax machine to which the fax will be sent, as well as the database number of the fax to be sent. The application will play the voice description for the requested fax and ask you to confirm that you wish the fax to be sent. The application will then use Brooktrout fax to transmit the requested fax. You will then be able to select other faxes to be sent to the same telephone number.
