Installing and deinstalling a custom server

When your new custom server is ready for operation, you can install it. This process moves the executable load module generated by the build to the ${CUR_DIR}${CA_DIR}bin directory. If an executable module for the specified custom server already exists in the bin directory, it is overwritten if the custom server is not executing. You must stop an executing custom server before you can reinstall it.

You can also deinstall a custom server to remove its executable module from the bin directory. If the executable module is installed and is executing, you cannot deinstall it while it is executing. As with installing a currently executing custom server, you must stop execution of a custom server before you can deinstall it.

For information about starting and stopping a custom server, see the Blueworx Voice Response for AIX: Configuring the System information.

Use the following procedure to install or deinstall the custom server:

  1. From the Welcome window, select Applications —> Custom Servers
  2. Open the custom server that you want to install. The system displays the Custom Server window.
  3. Installing: To install the custom server, click Utilities —> Install. The system copies the executable module to the bin directory. If the Status field in the Custom Servers window displays Autoexec, it remains unchanged otherwise, it changes to Installed.

(Refer to the Blueworx Voice Response for AIX: Configuring the System information for information about setting the IPL status to AUTOEXEC to start a custom server automatically.)

  4. Deinstalling: To deinstall the custom server, click Utilities —> Deinstall. The system prompts you for confirmation.
  5. Click OK to delete the executable module from the bin directory. If an executable module exists in the custom server directory, the Status window displays Built. If no executable module exists, the Status window displays New.
  6. Close the Custom Server window.
