input_format <type> "<pri_string>" ["<sec_string>"] [<keyword_parms>];

Allows the server to define feature-specific input formats.

<type> is the field type.
Specify an identifier for the input format template you are defining. You will use this identifier in the <ftype> parameter of the input_control statement (see input_control). The identifier must be an integer in the range 1 through 7.
<pri_string> is a character string defining the primary column format.
<sec_string> is a character string defining the format of the secondary column. If you want to write to the primary column only, you can omit <sec_string>.
<keyword_parms> are a number of optional keyword parameters that take defaults according to the most common usage:

wi=0

Wrap indicator (default)

wi=1

Wrap indicator

rl=0

Direction of collection/display is left-to-right (default)

rl=1

Direction of collection/display is right-to-left

Parameter substitutions are allowed in the primary and secondary strings.
